Thought that was a catchy title!!!

We are in the process of searching out ALL possible Grants for the Wheat Growers Hotel and we could use EVERYBODY’S help!!  If you know of any Grants that a National Historic building qualifies for, let us know!! We are setting up a GRC (Grant Review Committee) with people of different skills (writing, researching, task-time keepers, etc.).  An historical hotel in Kansas (much like the WGH) received a $1.4 million TEA-21 Grant for the renovations of the interior…WOW!!!!   That  would be  AWESOME

Well, the Hotel Holiday Lights was a great evening. We had a “count-down” in the dark, since the Hotel has been in the dark for 25 years and this was going to be ‘her’ first Holiday for quite some time! It was a special moment and it just about brought tears to my eyes.

I mentioned to the crowd before the count-down that someone told me that other people have said, “I just don’t see much change happening with that Hotel”. Hmmm….new fencing, trees, patio, debris gone, glass front door and windows AND electricity???? After pondering that for awhile, I came to the conclusion, “People see what they want to see”. The people at the event, the volunteers, see plenty and we can see the vision of the future….. the Hotel is thankful for that!!

So, here’s the NEW Wheat Growers Hotel website! Thanks to Steven Worker and Allison Chapin for taking on the task of creating it and maintaining it for us. It is a GREAT way for them to be involved on this “Hotel Journey” and we really appreciate all their time and effort!

I hope to give updated news more often with this BLOG so that everyone can keep up with everything that is happening at the Hotel.

Just thought I would share the excitement…we have electricity now at the Wheat Growers Hotel after 25 years of being in the DARK!! So we are having the first Hotel Holiday Lights! Should be fun!!
